How your information is handled.

This Privacy Policy describes how this website (wisemindpath.org) collects, uses, and protects information from visitors. It applies to website use only.

Information shared during actual therapy sessions, meaning your protected health information (PHI), is governed separately by federal HIPAA law and California's mental-health confidentiality statutes. Those protections are described in the practice's HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, provided to clients as required by federal law.

This website is operated by Anne Scouten Licensed Clinical Social Worker, A Professional Corporation, doing business as Wise Mind Path Counseling Services. Anne Scouten is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California (LCSW #80429), regulated by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

We collect only what you give us. The consultation request form on this site asks for your name, email, an optional phone number, and a short note about what you are hoping to work on. Submitting that form sends those fields directly to Anne by email.

If you contact Anne by email, phone, or text outside of the form, we keep whatever you send so Anne can respond.

Server logs (kept by the hosting provider, Vercel) record routine technical information for security and reliability: IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamps. These logs are not used to identify you and are retained on a short rolling window per Vercel's standard policy.

We use the information you submit only to respond to your inquiry, schedule a free consultation, or follow up about starting therapy. We do not use it for marketing, profiling, or any unrelated purpose.

If a therapist–client relationship begins, your information becomes part of the clinical record and is governed by HIPAA from that point forward.

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for their own marketing or data-broker purposes. Ever.

The only entities that receive any of your data are the technical service providers we use to run the website and email: Vercel (hosting), the email provider that delivers form submissions to Anne, and the domain registrar. Each of these processes data only to provide its service to us.

The website is served over HTTPS so traffic between your device and the site is encrypted in transit. Form submissions are transmitted to Anne over secure email. Any clinical records that arise from a therapy relationship are maintained separately from this website under HIPAA. None of that data flows through this site.

Important: please do not share detailed health information through the consultation form or general email. Those channels are intended for first contact only and are not designed as HIPAA-secure intake tools. Detailed clinical history is collected through the proper intake process once therapy begins.

This website uses Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate visitor behavior: page views, traffic sources, device categories, and similar non-identifying signals. IP addresses are anonymized before being processed. Google Analytics is configured in compliance with Google's data processing terms and is used solely to understand which pages help people find the practice, not to identify individuals.

If you would prefer not to be measured, most browsers offer a Do Not Track setting, and browser extensions like Privacy Badger or uBlock Origin will block analytics scripts entirely. We do not deploy Meta Pixel, advertising retargeting, or behavioral profiling cookies of any kind.

California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information is collected about you, the right to request deletion, and the right to correct inaccurate information.

Because this website does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link to provide. The practice does not engage in those activities.

To exercise any privacy right, email annescoutenlcsw@wisemindpath.org with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We will respond within 45 days.

This practice serves adults only. The website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, contact us and we will delete it.

When we update this policy, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of the page for at least 30 days.
