How your health information is protected.
Federal law (HIPAA) requires healthcare providers to give clients a written Notice of Privacy Practices describing how protected health information (PHI) is used and disclosed, and the client's rights regarding that information.
Clients of this practice receive a complete Notice of Privacy Practices through the HIPAA-compliant clinical platforms used for sessions, as part of the informed consent at the start of care:
- Self-pay clients: Notice is provided by SimplePractice, the clinical and billing platform used for sessions.
- Insurance clients: Notice is provided by Headway, the platform used for insurance billing and clinical workflow.
Both platforms are HIPAA-compliant business associates. Their Notices cover the same standard elements:
- How PHI is used for treatment, payment, and operations
- When disclosure is required by law (e.g., mandated reporting, court order)
- Client rights, including access to records, requests for amendments, and the right to file a complaint
Important: this website is a marketing site, not a clinical channel. The PHI protections described above apply to the actual therapy relationship. They do not apply to the consultation request form on this site, which is for first contact only and is not intended for detailed health information.
